Secondary 1 Performance Task Reflection

Statistics is the form of information being presenting any type of information. For example growth of income or data collected from a survey. Statistics is very much like classifying the information at hand so that anyone can easily analise the information being displayed. When doing statistics ones information will be classified into graphs for example Bar graph, pictogram, histogram, line graph and pie chart. The above help to make it much more simpler to look for the information one might need, instead of having the information all scattered around. Each type of graph helps classify different types of information mentioned above.

For Bar Graphs, Pictograms, Dot Diagram and Histogram, the height of the bar and number of pictures or dots will determined the quantity of the item. Thus the graphs are to represent the amounts so that they can differentiate the quantities.

For Line Graphs, it uses lines to connect the points together. Thus the graph can show the increase or decrease of quantities. It can also show patterns in increase or decrease.

For Pie chart, it shows the percentage of the item alongside all the items it is comparing with. This chart will help people see the percentage of items so as to be able to judge which is the best without looking at the actual quantity.

Graphs are used in different ways to represent different types of information so we must be careful in which type of graph to use under which circumstance. When classifying information we must use the graph that is the most suitable to how you need to see the information. Examples of how u may want to classify your information like if you need to see quantities, growth status or percentages. This is what statistics is like in the real world to clarify the piece of information you have.

Real world occurrences of the use of statistics is very frequent just that we do not notice. For example, during the elections night the results were shown in bar graphs. In newspapers, we usually see stock graphs displaying the increase or decrease. In survey results, it is usually classified in a pie chart.

My group mates worked together to finish the project in different aspects. I have contributed by helping my group organize the poster and write down the elements of the poster. Max helped by designing the poster and constantly contributing on what to write on the poster. Ryan helped by merging the information and do the pie charts. Leighton helped by thinking of the basic idea of what to write on the whole poster. I think the strength of our group was that we were very organized and help each other infilling up the poster content equally. The challenges that we faced was organizing our data together because of the pie charts had a bit of problem. The pie charts when moved into the pages document it will bring along the key, but we only needed one for all the pie charts. Thus causing a bit of a problem. If I would do this project another time I will make sure that I know what my aim is properly before anyone from my group start making the graphs. So that we can easily finish the task as we have a clear goal.

English Homework on communications

Communication is important as without it the world will be a total mess. When building the empire state you need to communicate or we will never be able to finish it even given 1000 lifetimes. My favorite form of communication is talking as its quick and more efficient than other form of communication. In a situation like having to be quiet, I will do lip communication. When in need of help it would be loud shouting. My problem is that I can not communicate very well in my mother tongue.
